Dr. Castillo began his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Physician's Assistant (PA) at USP Lewisburg (PA) in June 1992. He was promoted to Supervisory PA at FCI Estill (SC) in 1994, and later selected as Assistant Health Systems Administrator for FCI Miami (FL) the following year. In 1997, he was promoted to Health Systems Administrator at FCI Miami, and later that year transferred to FCI Edgefield (SC).
In January 2000, Dr. Castillo was selected to serve as Deputy Chief of the Affirmative Action Programs Branch, Human Resource Management Division (HRMD), in Central Office. He also served as Executive Assistant in HRMD. In 2002, he was selected as Associate Warden (AW) for FMC Fort Worth (TX) and from October 2004 to May 2006, he served as AW during the activation of FCC Terre Haute (IN). Dr. Castillo subsequently returned to Central Office as Deputy Assistant Director for HRMD. Beginning in January 2008, he became a member of the Senior Executive Service and served as Warden at FCI Memphis (TN) and in July 2011, he became Warden for USMCFP Springfield (MO). Dr. Castillo was selected as Regional Director for the Western Region on April 13, 2012. As Regional Director, Dr. Castillo oversaw the operation of 19 Bureau of Prisons facilities, a complement of more than 5,200 employees, and the custody and care of approximately 23,000 offenders and retired after 23 years of service. Dr. Castillo is serving as the Vice President of Health Services for one of the largest provider of correctional, detention and community reentry services in the world. He is responsible under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer to ensure the appropriate oversight of medical, mental health, dental and pharmacy services are provided to the facilities under U.S. Secure Services and GEO Care. |
