Since joining the NAVC in August 2016, Laura has led the team that created the Spark! online video news network, acquired the Veterinary Advantage media group, launched Today's Veterinary Business magazine, built an online bookstore, published four books, and supported industry partners in the transition of VMX (formerly NAVC Conference) to the Orange County Convention Center.
She manages the NAVC Marketing team as well as the NAVC Media division which includes the peer-reviewed clinical journals Today’s Veterinary Practice and Today’s Veterinary Nurse as well as the business journal Today’s Veterinary Business and the suite of Veterinary Advantage distribution-facing media products. In 2019 Laura spearheaded the launch of NAVC Retriever, an innovative recruitment app designed to seamlessly connect veterinary professionals and students with full-time and relief positions as well as externship opportunities in practices across North America. Laura earned degrees in both Journalism and Sociology at the University of Georgia. Prior to joining the NAVC, she spent 20 years working in media with an emphasis on print and digital sales and marketing and digital content creation and development. Walker lives in Orlando, Florida, with her husband and her yellow Labrador Retriever, Athena Sky Walker (Yes, she is a Star Wars fan). She is a voracious reader and is guilty of watching far more Netflix programming than is probably good for her. |
